Dear Students and Families,

We hope that all of you are well and are adjusting to Distance Learning. On our original calendar, Friday, April 10th and Monday, April 13th were days when school is closed. Both HCST and HCPS have decided to honor those scheduled days off, just as if we had returned to school.

What does this mean? This means that, while your student is welcome to continue to work on his or her assignments, the teachers and administrative staff will not be available to answer questions on those dates. If your child is current with his or her work, then we would suggest that they use these days for rest. If your child is behind, this would be an excellent opportunity to bring his or her work to a current status! We would urge that you and your child take a look at the assignments that are due and ask any necessary questions prior to 3:00pm on 4/9/20, as your teachers will be unavailable until they resume work on Tuesday, April 14th.

While preparing for these dates when schools are closed, I would like to take a moment to encourage parents to monitor your child’s work. While the teachers are always there to teach and answer questions, your child will need your coaching and guidance to pace his or her work. Distance Learning is new to most students and they are still developing good work patterns.

We strongly suggest that you daily ask your child to show you his or her “To Do” list on Google Classroom. This comes up when you choose the three lines in the top left corner of any Google Classroom page. These are the assignments that are upcoming or incomplete. The “To Do” will show you the assignment and due dates.

Estimados estudiantes y familias:

Esperamos que todos se encuentren bien y ajustándose al Aprendizaje a Distancia. En nuestro calendario original, el viernes 10 de abril y el lunes 13 de abril eran días en los cuales al escuela estaría cerrada. Ambos HSCT y HCPS han decidido honrar esos días como si hubiésemos regresado a clase.

¿Qué significa ésto? Significa que, aunque su estudiante está bienvenido(a) continuar con su trabajo en sus asignaturas, los maestros ni el equipo de administración estarán disponibles para contestar preguntas en esos días. Si su estudiante está al día con su trabajo, entonces le sugerimos que utilicen éste tiempo para descansar. Si su niño(a) está atrasado(a), ¡esta sería una excelente oportunidad para poner su trabajo al día! Les incitamos a que usted y su estudiante verifiquen las asignaciones que están pendientes y hagan cualquier pregunta necesaria antes de las 3:00 pm en abril 9 de 2020, ya que sus maestros no estarán disponibles hasta que resuman su trabajo el martes 14 de abril.

En preparación para éstas fechas las cuales las escuelas estarán cerradas, quisiera tomar un momento para alentar a los padres a monitorear el trabajo de sus hijos/hijas. Mientras que los maestros están siempre ahí para enseñar y contestar preguntas, su niño/niña necesitará su adiestramiento y guía para poder realizar su trabajo. El Aprendizaje a Distancia es nuevo para la mayoría de los estudiantes y todavía están desarrollando buenos patrones de trabajo.
Le sugerimos que diariamente haga preguntas a su niño/niña y que el/ella le enseñe su lista “To Do” en Google Classroom. Esta lista aparece al escoger las tres líneas en la esquina superior izquierda en la página de Google Classroom. Ahí estarán las asignaciones que deben realizar y/o que están incompletas. “To Do” les mostrará las fechas de entrega de las asignaciones.
